Immerse yourself in the rich musical tradition of the Newar community! Join our Dhime Class, where you will learn to play the Dhime, a traditional Newari drum that has been central to Newar culture, festivals, and rituals for centuries.
This class is perfect for beginners and enthusiasts alike. Under the guidance of experienced instructors, participants will:
- Learn basic and intermediate Dhime rhythms.
- Understand the cultural significance of Dhime in Newar festivals.
- Practice traditional beats and collaborative playing.
Materials:
- Dhime drums will be provided for in-person participants.
- Online participants should have a percussion instrument or a drum pad if available.
